Midwest Central Railroad brings the excitement of rail travel 100 years
ago to life behind authentic steam powered trains. Join us in our
enjoyable and educationally-rich endeavors for a future full of steam
in Mount Pleasant, Iowa.
Our
mission is to preserve and commemorate railway heritage for the
educational benefit and enjoyment for current and future generations.
We aim to
accomplish this through live action of our engines and rolling stock as
well as educational displays and tours of our operation. You can become
a volunteer and share our enjoyment of history.

updates: the "switchers" page has
additional pictures and verbiage on the "squirt" and the D-9, and a
link to a youtube video featuring the 14 has been added to that page
plus the "video links" page.
14 Dec 2011: The "EVENTS" page has been updated for the
2012 operation season. (Note: The operation dates for Midwest Haunted
Rails and North Pole Express have not been finalized; "stay tuned!")
Per a facebook "friend" request, a set of Henschel pictures has been added to the locomotive's page. 26 Nov 2011: Minor changes to the North Pole Express and links pages, including a link to the
Restored Burlington Northern Depot & WWII Memorial Museum in Red
Oak, IA.
12 Sep 2011: The MCRR, in
conjunction with Fabrication
and Construction Services -- FAB-CON, of Fairfield, Iowa, have made
arrangements to commence the refurbishment of the tender for the MCRR's
Baldwin 2-6-0 steam locomotive, the "2".

will operate on Saturday, Nov 26, along with the other 5 dates (2-3-4
Dec and 10-11 Dec)
16 May 2011: The MCRR is
the recipient of a "slightly used" digital readout boring machine
and an electric golf-cart based pickup truck. Anderson
Tooling Incorporated and Fabrication
and Construction Services, both of Fairfield, Iowa, generously
donated these
two items
to enhance our extensive machine shop's capabilities and increase our
staff's mobility in and around the grounds.
16 May 2011: Anderson Tooling
donates a boring machine and mobility vehicle.

Old
Threshers' Reunion is history but most important was the 6! With a
concerted effort, the 6 was pulling trains during most of event. The
shop blogger is putting together an entry for the 6's reassembly.
These three pictures (Sep, 2008; Jan, 2009, Sep, 2010) should illustrate what was happening in the last 24 months. 10 May 2010: The 6's boiler is

29 Aug 2009: FIX
THE SIX
will be at the Old Threshers' Reunion. Attendees at this year's Reunion
will certainly wonder what happened to the Six. (Check the shop's
weblog for details.)
The FIX THE SIX fundraising program participation will be available for visitors at the MCRR's Gift Shop at the South Station. 12
Aug 2008: The MCRR is the recipient of a Case Construction
590 Super
M Series 2 Backhoe. Case Construction has made this generous donation
to the Midwest
Central Railroad for the purpose of track maintenance and operations
support on all parts of the railroad.

Jul 2008: It's Back! (Well, not really; we never had it in
