Bob" Anderson
Text and pictures from the February 21, 2013 Peoria Journal Star: "Robert D. 'Bob' Anderson, age 80, of Peoria passed away at 6:16 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. "He was born Feb. 4, 1933, in Moline, Ill., to Melvin and Bernice (Schmoll) Anderson. He married Marlene Shambaugh 61 years ago on Feb. 2, 1952, in Geneseo, Ill. "She survives, along with three daughters, Lynette Kay (Joseph) Dowell of Chula Vista, Calif., Suzette Marie (Michael) Long of Peoria and Doreen Yvette (Dave) Freckleton of Peoria; one son, Kurt Robert (Kandy) Anderson of Dunlap; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Loretta (Jim) Hohenboken of Coal City, Ill. "Bob worked at John Deere Harvester in Moline, Ill. He worked at Caterpillar Inc. while attending Bradley University, majoring in mechanical engineering. He later became an industrial tool and die salesman, working 24 years for DoAll Rockford Company, retiring in 1983. "He was an Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. "Bob and Marlene are members of Grace Presbyterian Church. Bob was active in live steam clubs for many years. He built model live steam locomotives and tractors. He was a model train collector. " Bob was an engineer at the Midwest Central Railroad in Mt. Pleasant, IA. Often referred to as "Dr. Bob," he was instrumental in the mechanical upkeep of the MCRR's steam locomotives. ![]() The

07 May 2012: Firemen's School!
The MCRR is hosting its 2012 Firemen's School on Friday June 15 (19.00 - 22.00CDT), Saturday June 16 (09.00 - 18.00CDT), and Sunday June 17 (09.00 - 18.00CDT). The school is open to all MCRR members wishing to become a part of the MCRR's steam locomotive cab crew. Participants must be MCRR members in good standing, must be at least 18 years old and must possess a valid US driver's license. The school will cost $60.00. Attendance at this or a previous MCRR Firemen's School is compulsory for promotion from Student Fireman to Fireman. Notice to current Cab Crew staff: you are welcome to attend this school as a refresher. Outline:
After successful completion of this school the MCRR encourages graduates to become an active cab crew member during all future operating events as a Student Fireman. Contact the webmaster to enroll in this year's school; enrollment is limited to 12 students. 25 Feb 2012: The Anderson Tooling staff of
Fairfield, IA, today delivered a Hurco SLV-40 CNC vertical machining
center to the Midwest Central Railroad in Mount Pleasant, IA. A special
thanks goes to Total
Source Molders of Reinbeck, IA, for their generous donation.
Special thanks also go to Anderson Tooling for providing rigging and
transportation of the machine.
13 Feb 2012: NORTH POLE
EXPRESS: The 2012 Departure Timetable is available. As in past
years,
reservations for the North Pole Express begin Mid October.
13 Feb 2012: The "EVENTS" page has been updated for the
2012 operation season, including the dates for Midwest Haunted
Rails and North Pole Express.
09 Jan 2012: Several website
updates: the "switchers" page has
additional pictures and verbiage on the "squirt" and the D-9, and a
link to a youtube video featuring the 14 has been added to that page
plus the "video links" page.
14 Dec 2011: Per a facebook
"friend" request, a set of Henschel pictures has been
added to the locomotive's page.
26 Nov 2011: Minor changes to the North Pole Express and links pages, including a link to the
Restored Burlington Northern Depot & WWII Memorial Museum in Red
Oak, IA.
August, 2011: The shop needed some
cosmetic work.

12 September 2010 (updated): The
Old
Threshers' Reunion is history but most important was the 6! With a
concerted effort, the 6 was pulling trains during most of event. The
shop blogger is putting together an entry for the 6's reassembly.
These three pictures (Sep, 2008; Jan, 2009, Sep, 2010) should illustrate what was happening in the last 24 months. 10 May 2010: The 6's boiler is

29 Aug 2009: FIX
THE SIX
will be at the Old Threshers' Reunion. Attendees at this year's Reunion
will certainly wonder what happened to the Six. (Check the shop's
weblog for details.)
The FIX THE SIX fundraising program participation will be available for visitors at the MCRR's Gift Shop at the South Station. 12
Aug 2008: The MCRR is the recipient of a Case Construction
590 Super
M Series 2 Backhoe. Case Construction has made this generous donation
to the Midwest
Central Railroad for the purpose of track maintenance and operations
support on all parts of the railroad.

Jul 2008: It's Back! (Well, not really; we never had it in
